From bag to chain: these are my summer accessories
Accessories are always important, they are the finishing touch of your outfit. During the summer they may be even more important because of (usually) going outside without a coat. With accessories, you can give clothes a great boost. Or create a completely new ‘look’ with it. I think it is wonderful to use accessories and to pimp-up a somewhat boring outfit with it.
This is a very simple white linen blouse. I like it very much because I’m not a big fan of ruffles, they do not suit me either. But by adding a chain or a brooch I can make this blouse just a bit more fun. In this picture I even have two chains: the short version is from Wouters & Hendrix. I’ve chosen this one because the color of one of the beads matches the ocher yellow of the pants. I recently bought the long necklace at Today’s Vintage. Just like the three bracelets printed with a kind of tiger pattern. They are very light bracelets, therefore also nice to wear. The black ring is also made of wood.
The same blouse, but combined with a bright color chain by Natan. The flowers are made of very light metal and are attached to a sturdy chain. I bought this necklace at 2ndTime Boutique. The chain not only fits well with the blouse but also with the fabric of the trousers, printed with leaves.
The bracelets are a topper because I can combine them with many things, such as here with an orange striped shirt and orange sneakers. I once bought the white ring at a market. As far as I am concerned, jewelry does not always have to be expensive. Especially in second-hand stores or in markets you can succeed very well.
With a (colorful) shawl you can also apply a lot of variety. This cotton shawl is made of a Vlisco fabric and I bought it at Lady Africa in The Hague. I think the fabric is very beautiful and you can easily tie as it’s cotton and therefore it also stays comfortable. Very useful if you also use a shawl as a headband as well.
On this photo, I have tied the shawl as a belt. The print fits very well with one of my favorite striped shirts. I made a dark red feather on the pearl necklace, making it no longer a ladies necklace. And the color fits well with the fabric of the shawl.
A clutch, like the one from Dries van Noten that I received as a gift, is very nice to have. And to be honest, I think it’s chic. But for shopping, I also like a linen copy. Like this one with neon-colored lettering.
The wicker bag that I bought in spring is also a topper. It took a while before I could use it because it smelled really dirty. I used baking soda to get it out and then hung it outside on the balcony for weeks. It helped, the dirty air has disappeared and I use it a lot now. It suits a dress, but it also turns out to be an ideal bag to take to the beach. With a phone, lipstick, and wallet it’s filled. But you do not need many more on the beach. In short, also a great summer accessory.
I wish you all a great and nice summer!
