De Kunsthal in Rotterdam en het unieke luxe modehuis Viktor & Rolf zijn even oud! Hun vijfentwintigjarig jubileum is dan ook meer dan voldoende aanleiding voor een feestje. En wel een tentoonstelling met het werk van Viktor Horsting en Rolf Snoeren, zodat een ieder die daar zin in heeft hun werk ten volle kan bewonderen en dit niet beperkt blijft tot de gelukkigen die toegelaten worden tot hun internationale shows.
Van Haute Couture tot Work in Progress
Deze grote overzichtstentoonstelling ‘Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists 25 Years’ presenteert sublieme werken van dit artistieke ontwerp duo uit hun haute couture collecties. Toneelkostuums voor ballet en opera, eerdere ontwerpen uit V&R’s archieven en uit collecties van (inter)nationale musea. Maar ook de kostuums die zij maakten voor Madonna’s inzamelingsconcert in Miami Art Basel (2016). Een selectie van hun work-in progress serie ‘Dolls’ gekleed in iconische ontwerpen van het duo. En tenslotte hun creaties uit de nieuwste collecties ‘Boulevard of Broken Dream’ en ‘Action Dolls’.
Wearable Art
Ik heb het geluk gehad om in het begin van hun carrière de spectaculaire mode ontwerpen tijdens hun shows in Parijs te zien. Nu kan ik niet wachten om mij naar de Kunsthal te spoeden om hun avantgardische creaties die door de hedendaagse modewereld ook wel als ‘wearable art’ wordt bestempeld van dichtbij te bekijken. De tentoonstelling opent op zondag 27 mei en duurt tot 30 september.
